    October 19, 2018

    Date Change for Binding Vote

The Arkport and Canaseraga school districts have been notivied by the NYS Education Department that the original date to complete the binding vote on annexation has been CHANGED to:

    Tuesday, November 13, 2018

    Petition for the Binding VOte

The Canaseraga School District has been instructed by the NYS Education Department that they must obtain petition signatures from qualified voters that equal 10% of our current K-12 student enrollment (220). Therefore, we need 22 signatures on the petition sheets that are located in the Main Office of the school building. This is a formal step in the merger process. Please feel free to stop in to sign the petition during regular school hours.

    Order of Annexation

The district is required to post the order for annexation, from the NYS COmmissioner of Education, in five (5) public locations within the community. We would like to caustion everyone that the order gives the perception that the annexation is a done-deal - it is not. Any final action is contingent upon the results of the binding vote. This is somewhat referenced in the order on the second page with the short sentence "...upon approval by the qualified voters of the districs affected." The official order is posted above.
